When I lived in the times of the Ancient Egyptians, my uncle was an artist. The images we produce are created to help the soul stay alive through that image. It is believed that a persons soul could live on into the afterlife through that image. Furthermore, graphics are added to the art in order to ensure that the soul is prepared for the afterlife. Pictures and models found in our tombs are connected with the idea of providing the soul with helpmates in the other world. The artwork that exists here helps us to transcend the boundaries of life and death. When I look at the artwork I feel safe knowing that in the next life, my ruler and king will be there to guide me. This idea also helps me to not fear death as much because I will†¦show more content†¦My master has recently learned one of the new techniques that stains glass windows using oxides to dye the glass. The glass is cut into shapes and fits into lead supports. Ive heard of other masters using silver nitra te as a stain which makes the glass look yellow. In our paintings, we use plain backgrounds. I dont need to worry about how accurate my shapes and positions are. My master told me that whats important is to help the viewer understand the scene and story. The only part of the painting where shapes and positions are important is with the people in the center because theyre the most important. Our society sees my master as any other craftsman who works with his hands, but I dont mind that. When I lived in China, I had a neighbor who was a famous artist and created art for the Emperor himself. Our art mostly tells moralistic stories, which helps me meditate because they help me focus on leading a better life. Other times, I like to look at art to get inspiration since it contains famous people whove done great deeds. Finally, I experience art when I go into our temples. There are many paintings of Lohan inside because they help protect us from evil when we are inside the templ e. Lohan makes me feel comforted because I know I am safe when Im near. The history of journalism in the United States has spanned from the first colonist crossing the Atlantic Ocean to today’s mass media. Even before we were a country we had printers and journalists writing and printing stories for the people. Looking back, we can divide journalism history into different time periods and see how news reporting developed over time. Some of these time periods include the Colonial Period which spanned from when the first Pilgrims came to America in the mid 1600’s till the 1760’s. Other periods include the Revolution period which picked up from the colonial period till the early 1780’s. The period of Westward Expansion lasted from the 1800 to the 1830’s, then there was the Civil War Period which spanned from the 1840’s till the 1860’s. Finally, the Interpretative Period which lasted from 1930’s and continues to today. Looking back at these time periods we can see what was considered â€Å"news† and what was â€Å"newsworthy†, the dominate issues of the periods, and how far we have come as a society from those issues. The Colonial Period was the beginning of not only out country, but also the beginning of our system of journalism. I will be drawing on specific examples from the movie where it is evident that Dorothy’s behavior in Oz reflects a more mature adult-like tone whereas similar situations in Kansas illuminate childishness. The most prominent example in Kansas where Dorothy demonstrates her child-like behavior is when Ms Gulch comes to take Toto away. Dorothy’s expression and tone shows that she is extremely distressed and frustrated. As a result, Dorothy aggressively shoves Ms Gulch and yells â€Å"No no I wont let you take him. You go away or ill bite you myself, you wicked old Witch! †. The audience can almost certainly relate this behavior to that of a child throwing a temper tantrum when they are upset. Dorothy’s decision to use name calling and threaten to bite Ms Gulch strongly shows her inability to stay calm. This is a stark difference from Dorothy’s aggressive behavior in Kansas when Ms Gulch took Toto. The comparison of Dorothy’s reaction when Toto is taken away from her is symbolic of her being an Adult in Oz vs a Child in Kansas. Her responses strongly prove that she is able to think more rationally in Oz. Her word choice in Kansas and using names like â€Å"Wicked old witch† show that she is impulsive, easily frustrated and thus much more a child. Word Count : 350
